Second 'Saffron' Vande Bharat launched by Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Vande Bharat Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, where he initiated a series of development and infrastructure projects. Among the notable projects on the first day were the inauguration of the Kanyakumari-Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train and the translation of classical Tamil literature, including Thirukkural and Manimekalai, into various languages and Braille.

Participating in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and attending the Viksit Bharat Yatra Van and Quiz event, the Prime Minister engaged with beneficiaries of various government programs. The second day of his visit featured additional inaugurations, including the launch of the second Vande Bharat train service from Varanasi to New Delhi.

The inauguration also included the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) from New Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction, aimed at enhancing the logistics industry.

The second iteration of the Vande Bharat train, starting its service at 2:15 PM, boasts top-notch amenities such as touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, individual touch-based reading lights, concealed roller blinds, plush interiors, GPS-based passenger information systems, diffused LED lighting, and under-seat charging stations.

The train’s route covers Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Itawa, Tundla, and Aligarh before reaching New Delhi. Scheduled to commence regular operations on December 20, 2023, the train’s departure from Varanasi is at 6:00 AM, with subsequent stops at Praygraj at 07:34 AM, Kanpur Central at 09:30 AM, and New Delhi at 2:05 PM.

The return journey sees the train leaving New Delhi at 3 PM, stopping at Kanpur Central at 7 PM, Prayagraj at 9 PM, and reaching Varanasi at 11 PM.

The eastern DFC, inaugurated by PM Modi, connects Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction and New Bhaupur Junction, covering districts in Uttar Pradesh at a cost of RS 10,903 crores. The corridor links power plants in north India to crucial coal fields in West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Additionally, PM Modi participated in the village version of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, emphasizing development initiatives. At 11:30 AM, he inaugurated the Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi, marking another milestone in the region’s progress.
