Three prominent leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, arrived in Jaipur today to supervise the legislative party meeting. In a significant move, the BJP has chosen Bajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA from the Sanganer assembly constituency, as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, a state where the party recently secured a resounding majority in the elections.
The chief minister-elect was selected during the legislature party meeting, overseen by three BJP observers, Vinod Tawde, Sarok Pandey, and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, who were directed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The central team also included BJP’s Rajasthan organizer, Prahlad Joshi. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and CP Joshi welcomed the team.

Despite speculation that former CM Raje, who served two terms, was a strong contender, the final candidate was not disclosed by the team. Rumors circulated in political circles, mentioning names like MP-turned-MLA Balaknath, Raje, Kirrori Lal Meena, and Diya Kumari.
In the recent elections, out of the 199 seats in Rajasthan, the BJP secured a substantial 115 seats. The party made unexpected selections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, choosing Mohan Yadav and Vishnu Deo Sai, respectively, considering the caste dynamics in these states ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Bhajan Lal Sharma, the chosen Chief Minister, has a history of significant victories within the BJP. A four-time BJP State General Secretary, Sharma won the Sanganer assembly seat by an impressive margin, securing 145,162 votes against his Indian National Congress opponent Pushpendra Bhardwaj, who received 97,081 votes.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Bhajan Lal Sharma also acknowledged the support of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for suggesting his name.

He reassured the public that every Rajasthan MLA would strive to meet the expectations of the BJP and himself, ensuring comprehensive development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rajasthan BJP chief CP Joshi, in a press conference in Jaipur, expressed confidence that under the leadership of Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan would achieve new heights of development.
