2 min readThe Hindu tradition of Radha Krishna seems to be a combination of many independent deities from ancient India. Vasudeva is the first to confirm this. Vasudeva, a hero-god from the tribe of Vrishnis and related to Vrishni Nayaks’ worship, is documented in Panini’s writings of the 5th-6th century BCE as well as epigraphs with the Heliodorus column from the 2nd Century BCE.
It was once believed that the Vrishnis tribe belonged to the Yadavas gotra, who had their own hero god named Krishna. Vasudeva became one deity with Krishna, which is seen in the Mahabharata. They appear to be associated with Vishnu in both the Mahabharata (and the Bhagavad Gita). Another tradition, the Gopala-Krishna cult, which was the protector of cattle in the 4th century A.D., was also absorbed into Krishna tradition.

Krishna’s Childhood Days
The cowherds were delighted by Krishna’s cosmic dances and the melodious music of his flute. He lived in Gokul, North India for 3 years and 4 mois. He was known for being very mischievous as a child, and would steal butter and curd from his girlfriends. He lived to the age of 6 and 8 months after completing his Leela, or Gokul exploits.
A legend states that Krishna drove Kaliya, the demonic serpent, from the river to its sea. Another popular legend states that Krishna lifted the Govardhana hill using his finger. He used it as an umbrella to shield Vrindavan’s people from the torrential rains caused by Lord Indra. He lived in Nandgram until he was ten years old.
Krishna’s Final Days on Earth
Krishna returned to Dwarka after the great war. After he was killed by Jara, a hunter, he returned to Dwarka to teach spiritual knowledge to Uddhava, his disciple and friend. He lived for approximately 125 years, according to legend.
He is either human or incarnate and has been ruling hearts for millions of people over the past three millennia, regardless of whether he is human. Swami Harshananda said, “If a person can have such an impact on the psyche, ethos, and all aspects of the Hindu caste’s life over the centuries,” he is no less than God.
