EU sanctions targeting a circle in Putin including military heads over Ukraine
2 min readBrussels: The EU on Wednesday imposed sanctions on Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and military heads as part of the package of steps over Kremlin recognition of two independent separatist areas.

It also imposed sanctions against more than 300 parliamentarians in the Russian country Duma who chose Putin to recognize the area.
The famous internet research agency, accused of pioneering the online disinformation campaign, beaten, along with three leading banks Veb, Rossiya and Promsvyazbank.
Among those added to the blacklist were entrepreneurs Yevgeny Prigozhin, allies near Putin and allegedly founders of the Mercenary Wagner group accused of sending fighters to Ukraine and other hotspots.
Prigozhin, which was intended to be behind the Internet Research Agency, was approved by the EU for the involvement of Wagner in Libya. His wife and mother were subject to sanctions.
Those targeted at deploying the “propaganda” government including Margaritas Simonyan RT, Maria Zakharova’s ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova and Pro-Kremlin Broadcasters Vladimir Solovyev and Pyotr Tolstoy.
The Head of the State-owned Veb and VTB Banks are also on the list.
The EU in addition to taking a wider friction in the Russian economy by moving to limit access to Moscow’s country debt to the European Financial Market.
It also imposes an import ban on items that come to blocks from the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
The EU said sanctions were only the first part of the “unprecedented” package “of the action that had been prepared against Russia and that he held the rest again if the Kremlin launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine.
The United States on Tuesday also targeted Russian country debt and crashed into Bank and Promsvyazbank in its first sanctions.
