China may suffer from “colossal outbreaks,” some experts warn with casual sidewalks
3 min readBeijing, China: A sad case of a Chinese miscarriage pregnant after a tightly delayed access to his access to medical care has revived the debate of the Chinese zero tolerance approach to Covid-19.
The country where Coronavirus was first detected in 2019 now among the last place is still hewing for “zero covid”, placing millions quarantined even Beijing prepares to host the next winter Olympics.
How does China maintain ‘zero covid’?
China has a formula that they call “dynamic zero” to limit the outbreak: strict lockdowns and immediate mass testing.
Unlike soft lockdowns elsewhere, people in China can be banned from leaving buildings or forced to stay in a hotel room if they are considered high-risk contacts.
The historic city of Xi’an, the famous terracotta warrior house, was locked up in December, forcing 13 million inhabitants in the room after around 150 cases detected.
The same sized city of Zhengzhou was tested for every resident after only 11 cases.
International flights are a small portion of the pre-pandemic level with the arrival of a strict quarantine strict week.
Mandatory track-and-footprint application means close contact is usually detected and quarantined quickly.
Does it work?

The officially killed victim has lived below 5,000.
Although the case of an initial outbreak of chaotic in Wuhan in the early 2020 is widely believed to have been reported, life since then mostly return to normal.
“There is still no ability to stop a single local case to appear, but we have the ability and confidence to quickly put out the outbreak when local cases are found,” said the official National Health Commission Liang Wannian Journalist last month.
Who pays the price?

Meanwhile, migrant workers have left stranded from families for months because of heavy travel rules and restrictions.
