The SVOD rights to Edgar Wright’s The Spark Brothers, which was released this summer, have been acquired by Netflix. The film will be released on Netflix in the United States on October 28th, 2021.The Sparks Brothers were first shown at the Sundance Film Festival in January of this year, and it will be distributed widely in June 2021.The documentary looks back at the histories of Ron and Russell Mael, the rock and pop team behind Sparks, who began their musical careers in 1966.Beck, Steve Jones, Gillian Gilbert, Andy Bell, Thurston Moore, Stephen Morris, and Alex Kapranos, among others, interview the musical team throughout the documentary.

Production Status of the film:
In June 2018, it was revealed that Edgar Wright will make an unnamed documentary film on the band Sparks, which would be produced by MRC Non-Fiction and Complete Fiction Pictures. Principal photography first began in May 2018, with Jake Polonsky as cinematographer, with the band’s concert at the O2 Forum Kentish Town as the first stop. Wright claimed in April 2020 that the film was almost completed.
